Captain America flies to Joburg

Our very own Captain America has spent the last few weeks in Joburg, acclimatizing to the thin air, and preparing for the HF Oppenheimer Horse Chestnut Stakes.

So far, the Captain has had great a grass gallop at Randjiesfontein and is due to run this Saturday in the Conditions Plate over 1450m, all leading him up to the Horse Chestnut Stakes on the 28th March, 2015.

Jockey Corne Orfer left on Wednesday morning to get in a few hours work before the prep race: “I’m pleased with how he has settled and I have a feeling it’s going to be a good race on Saturday”.

Brett seems to be happy with what he has heard so far, and will be flying up on Saturday morning to watch the prep run and give further instructions from there.
