With the major day Pick 6 pool falling marginally short of the projected R15 million, Winning Form jockey Warren Kennedy teamed up with the former Joey Ramsden-trained Gold Cup winner Dynasty’s Blossom to narrowly gain top honours in a thrilling finish to the R125 000 Dstv Gr3 Gold Vase at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday.
It’s been a while between drinks for the smart Ridgemont Highlands bred mare, who is now trained by Brett Crawford, but she showed her class when buckling down late at 9-1 and storming up off a muddling early pace to snare Sean Tarry’s Before Noon (10-1) on the line. The winner clocked 194,79 secs for the 3000m. Dark Moon Rising (11-1) completed a tricky trifecta. Bred by Ridgemont Highlands, Dynasty’s Blossom was knocked down to the Mayfair Speculators/Coolmore/Maine Chance Farms partnership for R4,5 million at the 2016 Cape Premier Yearling Sale – where she topped the charts on Day 2.
She is out of the Danehill Dancer sired Gr3 Final Fling Stakes winner Crimson Blossom, who won seven races from 1200m to 2000m. Her fourth dam, Delsy, produced Gr1 Prix du Jockey Club winner and leading sire Darshaan.
Dynasty’s Blossom, a terrific broodmare prospect, has now won 4 races with 12 places from 27 starts and took her stakes earnings to R1 275 175, and could be set to visit Dubawi Gr1 winner Erupt .
