Empire International Bloodstock (EIB) snapped up the top lot sold at Sunday’s Emperors Palace Ready To Run Sale in Germiston this weekend.
The sales topper of Sunday’s sale was the Futura colt Castle On The Hill, who was knocked down to EIB for R1 300 000.
Consigned by the Ndoro Stud, the classically bred Castle On The Hill (Lot 91) hails from the first crop of the Drakenstein Stud based Horse Of The Year Futura, whose nine career triumphs included victories in the G1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate, G1 J&B Met and back to back wins in the G1 Champions Cup.

The sales topping colt, who is closely inbred to multiple South African champion sire Western Winter, is out of the winning Go Deputy mare Music Pass, a full-sister to G2 Hawaii Stakes third Full Mast and half-sister to Emerald Fillies Handicap winner Grandalea.
Castle On The Hill, whose third dam is Cape Fillies Guineas winner Dance Every Dance, hails from the immediate family of the Western Winter sired Equus Champion Capetown Noir, a triple G1 winner, and now promising young Summerhill Stud based stallion, and promising filly In The Dance.
The colt will be heading to the Brett Crawford stable and is a colt that looks very exciting to have in the yard, with Brett having trained his sire and also recently chose and trained a horse for Mauritian clients in St Vladamir, before his export.
