Vinery Stud’s multiple G1 winning sire Press Statement came up with his first South African winner when the Brett Crawford trained Kitty Cat Chat made a hugely impressive debut at Durbanville on Tuesday afternoon. The Australian bred three-year-old was dispatched the 14-10 tote favourite for the Racing Association Maiden Plate (1250m). Under jockey Greg Cheyne, Kitty Cat Chat tracked the front running Gallic Girl (11-1), and when Cheyne asked his mount the question, Kitty Cat Chat exploded into action, and ran away to make a winning debut by two and a quarter lengths. Owned by Ridgemont, who bred the filly in Australia, Kitty Cat Chat landed Tuesday’s spoils in a time of 76.42, and she looks a smart prospect.

The promising filly is from the first crop of G1 MRC Caulfield Guineas and G1 BRC JJ Atkins winner Press Statement.
A son of ill-fated Fastnet Rock horse Hinchinbrook, Press Statement ended the 2019-2020 season in the top ten on Australia’s Leading First Season Sires List, with five first crop winners including Spokeman, Gionvana Run and Equation. Kitty Cat Chat is the first foal of the Fast ‘N’ Famous mare Whats New Pussycat, a half-sister to Winter Challenge winner Seaway. The second foal of the mare, a filly by Arrowfield Stud’s multiple Gr.1 winner Maurice, named Whoa Whoa Whoa, was exported from Australia along with her dam in January 2019.
