Ridgemont Highlands’ in-form stallion Jackson had a day to remember on Saturday when the triple G1 winning son of Dynasty was responsible for a treble of winners. The sire of exciting filly, and leading G2 Western Cape Fillies Championship hope Pretty Young Thing, Jackson had a pair of winners at Turffontein on Saturday, while his son Khopesh won at Durbanville on the same day.

Trained, like Jackson himself, by Brett Crawford, Khopesh made it back to back wins when the Ten Einde Stud bred gelding scored a courageous win in Saturday’s eighth and final race at the track. Despatched the 5-2 tote favourite, Khopesh flew up close home to get up and win in the shadow of the post by a short head.

Khopesh, his sire’s only runner at Durbanville on Saturday, is now unbeaten in two starts at Durbanville, with the consistent, and lightly-raced, four-year-old having won or placed in six of seven starts. His Cape Derby winning sire Jackson also struck twice at Turffontein on Saturday, with his son Pure State winning the first race, and daughter Targaryen Queen victorious in Saturday’s fourth race.

Trained by Sean Tarry, 3yo Pure State got off the mark at just the second time of asking when bolting up by 1.75 lengths over 1450m on the inside track, while paternal half-sister Targaryen Queen picked up her second start when running on strongly to prevail by a length and a quarter over 1600m (another Jackson filly, Ex’s ‘n Oh’s ran third to Targaryen Queen on Saturday).

One of the very best sons of deceased star sire Dynasty, and from the family of Smart Strike, Sky Classic and Soft Falling Rain, Jackson has two colts on offer at the 2019 CTS Ready To Run Sale.
