Kieswetter-Crawford Milestone
The powerful partnership of the Kieswetter family’s Ridgemont Racing operation and Brett Crawford Racing reached a notable milestone at Kenilworth on 1 August, when Our Prized Jewel registered their century of winners.

Ever since acquiring the Highlands Stud in early 2017 and winning the Sun Met the same year with Australian import Whisky Baron, the Kieswetters have played an increasingly influential role on the South African racing and breeding landscape and this past season topped the Western Cape owners championship. And it is clear from the record books that Brett Crawford’s powerful Philippi based operation has played a leading part in the growth, together with Ridgemont’s other trainers.

A daughter of Duke Of Marmalade, and a product of their famous farm, Our Prized Jewel was partnered by Ridgemont-sponsored Greg Cheyne and was registering her third win from four starts.
One of South Africa’s top conditioners, Brett Crawford has trained for his own account since 2009. In just over ten seasons Crawford Racing has won a further 24 Gr1 races, including many Gr2, Gr3, and stakes races.
Crawford’s graded stakes stars for the Kieswetters include present day leading sire Jackson, his recent SA Champions Season feature winning daughter Pretty Young Thing, Met winner Whisky Baron, Cape Fillies Guineas star Front And Centre, outstanding sprinter Run Fox Run and a host of other star performers.

Congratulations to the Kieswetter’s Ridgemont team and to Brett Crawford and his team – here’s to the next 100!
