Arrowfield Stud’s reigning Australian Champion Sire Snitzel has, from just a handful of runners to date, made his presence felt in South Africa. Snitzel’s South African runners include G1 SA Classic winner Heavenly Blue (now standing at Ascot Stud), Listed Tattersalls Summer Juvenile Stakes winner Traces, and G3 Byerley Turk runner up, and 11 time winner, Unannounced.
His latest runner to impress is the Ridgemont bred owned colt Real Gone Kid, and the latter stamped himself a horse to follow with an impressive performance at Kenilworth on Monday afternoon. “He did it very well in a competitive looking field, and I was very impressed,” stated trainer Brett Crawford. The Australian bred Real Gone Kid, a somewhat unlucky second last time out, was sent off tote favourite for Monday’s Racing Association MR 93 Divided Handicap (1000m), and put up a polished performance. Under Anton Marcus, the three-year-old was always up with the pace, and when Marcus asked the question, Real Gone Kid, trying the 1000m trip for a first time, skipped clear to post a three length win.
Trained by Brett Crawford, Real Gone Kid, whose connections are hoping to acquire some black type with him, has now won three of just seven starts and looks very progressive indeed.
“We believe it’s paramount to bring international pedigrees and bloodlines into South Africa to expand, develop, and improve the breeding and racing industry in South Africa. Let’s wrap this fella up in cotton wool!” stated Craig Kieswetter of Ridgemont Highlands following a facile win of the smart colt.
The blue blooded colt is out of the Jet Master sired In The Fast Lane -South Africa’s Champion 3YO Filly of 2014.
A half-sister to six black type horses including fellow Equus Champion Let’s Rock’N Roll, In The Fast Lane, whose fourth dam is Cape Fillies Guineas winner Party TIme, In The Fast Lane won five times including the G1 Cape Fillies Guineas and G1 Woolavington 2000. In The Fast Lane and Real Gone Kid’s year younger full brother Stiptelik were exported together from Australia to Ireland in January 2019.
