A strong hand in the Cape Guineas for Crawford Racing

With 3 runners confirmed for the Grand Parade Cape Guineas, it is Crawford Racing’s strongest hand in the race yet.

The trio of runners is headed up by Recent Lanzerac Ready to Run stakes winner CAPTAIN AMERICA, who is undefeated in 4 starts. He comes into the race off of some terrific form and looks to be the horse to beat.

The stables chances don’t end there. De Kock, recent winner of the Grade 2 Selangor Cup, also comes into the race with a chance, off the back of some terrific form too. Never out of the first three, this will be his stiffest task to date, which will not be aided by his poor draw of 13. Never the less he is in good form and has in-form jockey Sean Cormack in the irons.

The final entry from the stable is ELUSIVE GOLD. This son of Sail from Seattle has really impressed by winning his last two starts. His recent win was very impressive considering his poor draw and the fact that he raced 3 wide for the majority of the race. He too must have a chance and it will be a  good indication of his ability, come saturday

When asked about their respective chances, Brett had the following to say, ” CAPTAIN AMERICA has had a good prep going into this race. He has a good draw and the mile will be better suited to him. I am expecting a very good run. DE KOCK is also in very good form. He won a very good race last time out. He does have a wide draw to overcome, but I am expecting another good effort from him. ELUSIVE GOLD has a big task ahead of him, but he is a very progressive horse and I feel he will be running on strongly. It is a very competitive field and it will be interesting to see how the Johannesburg form fits in with the Cape form.”

Below is the final field for next Saturday’s big raceday. It looks to be a wonderful day and anyone in the Western Cape should make their way to Kenilworth Racecourse. It promises to be a great day out. Highlights include the opening of the on course BURGER KING, competitions and Big prize Give-aways.
