Royal Tiara & Mon Petit Cherie

Royal Tiara (#8) Royal Tiara enters this race with a promising profile, having run both of her career starts in Gauteng at Turffontein. She finished a fair third on debut over 1000m and confirmed her potential by winning her second start over 1160m without being put under too much pressure. This race marks her KZN and Greyville debut.

The daughter of Rafeef shares the top Computaform rating of 55 with Alice B Toklas and holds the second-highest speed rating (47) in the race, trailing only Kavady (50). She faces two transitions tomorrow: her first start at Greyville (and in KwaZulu-Natal) and a step up to 1400m. While her draw of 8 is somewhat wide, her class is expected to make her a primary threat.

She possesses high-quality breeding, being sired by Rafeef (AUS) out of the Captain Al mare Captain’s Princess. James/Tim and Callan have a 10.32% win strike rate in KwaZulu-Natal and significantly, the boast a 19% win rate and a 47% place rate as a partnership across the country. Royal Tiara is owned by the ASSM Racing Syndicate (Nom: Mr A Chadha), who represents one of the top ownership syndicates in the country.

Race 5: Amusnet Devon Air Stakes (Listed)

Summary of the Field This Listed event for juvenile fillies features a competitive lineup of Highveld raiders and local contenders, most of whom are testing the 1400m distance for the first time. Alice B Toklas holds a leading Computaform rating of 55 and is expected to relish the extra trip following consistent Highveld efforts.

Local challengers Ferrari Flair (drawn 1) and Kavady (drawn 3) both come off respectable performances in the Grade 2 Allan Robertson Championship. Despite being out slow in that race, they showed enough potential to suggest they will be major factors from their favorable inside draws. Perfect Sky is another Highveld visitor with significant upside, having shown marked improvement to win her second career start over 1160m.

Conclusion The main contenders are Alice B Toklas, Royal Tiara, Perfect Sky, Ferrari Flair, and Kavady. There has been significant price movement for the local pair: Ferrari Flair opened at 12.50 and has been backed into 6.25, while Kavady compressed from an opening 10.00 to 6.25. Perfect Sky has also seen market support, moving from an opening 6.25 to 5.00 on Hollywoodbets.

Mon Petit Cherie (#13) Mon Petit Cherie is the class horse of the race as the 2025 SA Guineas winner and is the best-weighted runner under the race conditions. She is sired by Rafeef (AUS) out of the Galileo (IRE) mare Exotic (IRE). Despite her immense class, she returns from a significant 126-day (18-week) layoff and faces the tactical disadvantage of the widest starting stall (draw 13).

The 2025 SA Guineas winner clocked a strong 22.5 seconds for the final 400m when winning that Grade 1 event at Greyville. More recently, she recorded a 23.3 second finish in the Grade 1 Sceptre Stakes at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth down the straight which was palpably a distance too short for her. She then ran an exceptionally good third to Double Grand Slam in the Gr1 Majorca Stakes.

James and race jockey Richard Fourie form a formidable partnership and along with heavyweight owners Ridgemont (Nom: Mr Craig Kieswetter) & Mr Devin Heffer they form a formidable trifecta. Richard is the current Champion jockey with a 21.9% overall win strike rate. James and Richard also have an 18% win rate and a 45% place rate over their last 94 runs.

Race 8: HKJC World Pool Stakes (Grade 2)

Summary of the Field The Grade 2 HKJC World Pool Stakes is a standout event featuring a clash of established class and race fitness. Quickstepgal is a primary contender in “cracking form,” having finished second in the SA Fillies Guineas and previously defeating several of these rivals in the Sceptre Stakes.

Mocha Blend is a high-class Grade 1 winner, though this run may serve as a preparation for the Hollywoodbets Durban July. Rachel Wall is considered a dangerous “dark horse” who has been finishing strongly over shorter trips and should find the extra 200m to her liking. Other threats include the well-drawn Care Forgot and Symphony In White, who caught the eye in a recent Grade 1 sprint.

Conclusion The main contenders are Mon Petit Cherie, Quickstepgal, Mocha Blend, and Rachel Wall. Quickstepgal has seen notable price compression, moving from an opening 2.50 to 2.00. Conversely, Rachel Wall has drifted slightly from 8.33 to 10.00, Mon Petit Cherie has remained steady in the market at 5.00. on Hollywoodbets.
