Crawford Racing – From Brett to James

The story of Crawford Racing is one of continuity and renewal. Brett Crawford, one of South Africa’s most respected trainers and having just had his first Graded race success in Hong Kong in the form of Encountered on Sunday, handed the reins to his son James Crawford, ushering in a new era for the stable. Since taking over, James has combined youthful energy with the stable’s established traditions, leading to remarkable success.

    • In October 2025 alone, Crawford Racing celebrated 13 winners across South Africa, a testament to the yard’s depth and form.
    • The stable boasts several progressive horses aimed at Graded Races in 2025 and 2026, ensuring its presence at the highest level of competition.

James’s leadership has already brought innovation, syndication opportunities, and a continued sense of purpose to the yard.
